cut my thumb
and it just keeps bleeding
and bleeding
i tried to hold it above my heart
but i can never do that for long
it's like it has its own
and it's pumping away
and away
i cut it opening a can of tomatoes
with my left hand
so i did not damage the fingernails on my right - i need them -
but it turns out i need my left thumb, too,
this left thumb face
is leverage for everything
